<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; A man who city police say robbed a Rite Aid store Tuesday night called 911 on himself.</p><p><a href="https://www.timesleader.com/news/breaking-news/734647/suspect-arrested-in-rite-aid-robbery-in-wb" target="_blank">Police apprehended Ryan Daniel Coffay, 24, in front of Movies 14 about two blocks from the East Northampton Street store just after 9:30 p.m</a>. A knife was found near Coffay&#8217;s feet, and six prescription tablets and $160 were found in his pockets, police said.</p><p>Coffay allegedly told officers the cash was taken during the robbery.</p><p>According to a criminal complaint:</p><p>Police responded to Rite Aid and reviewed surveillance video that showed a man brandishing a knife and lunging over the counter to get money from a cash register. A store clerk was waiting on the suspect.</p><p>As an officer radioed the description of the suspect, Coffay called 911 and confessed to robbing the store. He said he wanted to surrender.</p><p>Police located Coffay pacing back and forth in front of Movies 14 where he was arrested.</p><p>The store clerk told police a man approached the counter with merchandise. As the clerk was processing the sale and opened the register, she heard the man say, &#8220;Give me the money.&#8221; When the clerk looked up, she saw the suspect holding a knife in his hand saying again, &#8220;Give me the money.&#8221;</p><p>Police said Coffay used his cell phone to call 911.</p><p>Coffay, of Finn Street, Wilkes-Barre, was arraigned Wednesday by District Judge Joseph Spagnuolo Jr. in Luzerne County Central Court on three counts of robbery and one count each of theft and terroristic threats. He was jailed at the county correctional facility for lack of $75,000 bail.</p><p>Court records say Coffay completed Luzerne County Drug Treatment Court in August 2018 related to robbing the Turkey Hill store on Wilkes-Barre Boulevard in November 2015.</p><style>

Police: Suspect in Rite Aid robbery called 911 on himself
