Man treated for minor burns after fire on WB’s North Main Street

<p>WILKES-BARRE &#8212; With both prom and wedding season right around the corner, there&#8217;s a fairly good chance you or someone you love will be in the market for a new dress soon.</p><p>And with an event coming up this weekend at King&#8217;s College, you&#8217;ll be able to get a new-to-you dress for a great deal, with all the money going to charity.</p><p>The event, called &#8220;Fashion for Compassion,&#8221; is the brainchild of Lindsay Denion, 23, a fifth-year student in the college&#8217;s physician assistant program, along with her mother, Jean, who&#8217;s a professor in the program.</p><p>The event will be this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the King&#8217;s on the Square building, located at 20 Public Square in downtown Wilkes-Barre. Attendees will be able to get dresses of all styles and sizes for only $10.</p><p>The Denions said all the dresses were donated to the cause, so with no overhead, all the money made in the sale would be donated straight to St. Jude Children&#8217;s Research Hospital.</p><p>&#8220;Everyone&#8217;s been wonderful,&#8221; Jean Denion said, adding that King&#8217;s was donating the space and anything else they needed. &#8220;They couldn&#8217;t have been more accommodating.&#8221;</p><p>The family said 1,000 dresses had been donated to the project &#8212; double what they initially planned. They include prom dresses, mother-of-the-bride dresses, more casual dresses and even a handful of wedding dresses.</p><p>&#8220;You should see my dining room,&#8221; Jean said, joking about all the gowns.</p><p>Assuming all the dresses are sold, that means a $10,000 donation would be made to the hospital.</p><p>The Denions say the event will positively impact both the customer and medical research, allowing those who might be struggling to send their kids to prom to get a cheap dress, and benefit others in the process.</p><p>Lindsay said it&#8217;s been difficult balancing the project with her final year of school work, but it&#8217;s worth it.</p><p>&#8220;It&#8217;s super rewarding,&#8221; she said.</p><style>
