corner. I couldn't wait for the weather to turn cold, but now with a good case
of the flu virus, I'll be happy for some signs of springThere's no time to be

 * * * * &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; The Swoyersville Senior Citizens will meet at 1 p.m. today in the Holy
Trinity Church basement, Hughes Street. Dues will be collected until the end
of February. New members are welcome. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

 The First Baptist Church at 100 West Dorrance St. is presenting a special
series of meetings to deal with stress entitled "Stress Busters." The second
of these six meetings will be held at the 7 p.m. service tonight. Topics
covered will be: "How to Win Over Worry," "Take This Job and Love It!,"
"Raising Your Kids Without Raising Your Blood Pressure,"" How to Detect
Depression," "Principles for Handling Pressure," and more! Attend any or all
of the sessions at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays through March 5. There will be a
free-will offering. Child care is available for children of all ages. Call the

 The Plymouth Rotary Club will meet on Thursday, Feb. 6, at Franchella's
Restaurant and Pub, 127 West Main St., Plymouth. Dinner will be served at 7
p.m. following a one-half hour of organizational introspection which begins at
6:30 p.m. The meeting will feature the monthly club assembly and business
meeting. Members will be presented with details of the board of directors
meeting held on Jan. 30. Following a discussion of the board meeting, several
important votes will be taken. All members are requested to be present for

 The Forty Fort United Methodist Church at 26 Yeager Avenue will host the
15th annual community prayer breakfast at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 8. This
gathering will include borough officials, community leaders, Forty Fort United
Methodist Church's leaders, and people from the surrounding community. The
breakfast will be a time for fellowship around the table and a time for prayer
for God's guidance in the year ahead. Jim Siracuse, director of the Luzerne
County Emergency Management Agency, will be the speaker. This prayer breakfast
is sponsored by the church and society work area of the church. If you have

 The Chicory House contra dance is moving to a new location in February, as
the series continues into the seventh season of community dances featuring
live bands and outstanding callers. The next dance will be held at the Wyoming

Feb. 8. Music will be provided by Yvonne Rugg on fiddle and Martha Jenks on

 The Swoyersville Kiwanis Club will hold the annual scholarship test at 1

This community project, and the many other benefits the town receives from the
Kiwanis Club, is made possible through the help of the town people supporting
the fund-raising projects. New club members Gene Breznay and Barbara Gavlick
Zahay, along with Walter Gavlick and Ed Perugini, will assist Chairman Len

 The Luzerne Intermediate Unit is offering SAT PREP courses on four
consecutive Saturdays from Feb. 15 to March 8 in the Luzerne Intermediate
auditorium. The VERBAL SAT prep will be from 10 to 11:15 a.m. and is divided
into three main parts: vocabulary building and analogies, sentence completion,
and reading comprehension. Leonard Lojewski, L.I.U. guidance counselor, will
be the instructor. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The MATH SAT prep course will be held on the same Saturdays from 11:30 a.m.
to 12:45 p.m. with the course designed to prepare students for the 15 types of
problems found on the new SAT test; algebra, geometry, arithmetic, and
miscellaneous. The following items must be brought to each class: notebook, #2
pencils, and a pocket calculator. Terry DiGiovine, math teacher, will be the
instructor. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 
 The VERBAL SAT and MATH SAT prep courses are $60 per course/per student.
Class sizes are limited to 20 students and are on a first-come, first-served

 Congratulations to Barbara L. Dancheck, daughter of Virginia and Charles
Dancheck of Edwardsville, who has been named to the dean's list for the fall
term at Hartwick College in New York. Inclusion on Hartwick's dean's list is
an indication of excellent academic work, including the completion of a full
course load with at least a 3.4 grade point average. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
